Great Wall Trek

I so appreciated to spend those days close to the Wall and not just to “fly in” for one day. This enables me to get a bit of a “feel” for the country. To be with the Chinese crew also was a privilege I won’t forget. Our tour guide gave us valuable insights. I am thankful that I could be part of this challenge, it was worth it.

World First: Great Himalaya Trail

01/03/2010

The Great Himalaya Trail (GHT) is the longest and highest alpine walking track in the world. Thanks to adventurer Robin Boustead the GHT in Nepal (1700km) has been documented from its start in the east at Kanchenjunga to its completion in the west of Tibet. World Expeditions is proud to offer the first-ever range of commercial treks that will commence in 2011.

There are 7 challenging stages of the GHT each ranging from 18-34 days, or if time permits avid adventurers may want to walk the full traverse - a 151-day hit of pure Himalayan high!

While all sections of the GHT offer something completely different, the entire trail is united in a solitary cause to push the envelope of adventure travel while benefiting remote communities through the efforts of responsible and sustainable tourism. The financial benefits of tourism are injected directly back into the host community through the aquisition of local guides, porters and carriers and a traveller's purchase of food, drinks and authentic hand crafted souvenirs.

You will need to be prepared physically and mentally to take on the GHT. Each section is demanding, but the rewards of trekking through the world's highest peaks and amongst the worlds most preserved traditional cultures has overpowering allure.

Visit our Great Himalaya Trail webpage to learn how you can become part of history walking the inaugural stages of the GHT. Places are strictly limited to approximately 12-16 passengers per section.
