Everest High Passes

...we shouldn't finish without mentioning admiration for the endlessly busy Mr Lama. He like all World Expeditions staff we met, was very charming and knowledgable, this characteristic seems to be a requirement for employment with the company

Ama Dablam Base Camp Trek

This is our most popular introduction to trekking in the Everest region. This trek weaves through the famous Buddhist villages and monasteries of the Sherpa people while affording unparalleled views of some of the world's highest peaks. The highlights of this trip are the days spent trekking above Namche Bazaar. Here we get beyond the established trails to our alpine camp beneath the awesome flanks of Ama Dablam. From our spectacular vantage point we gain a breathtaking 360 degree mountain panorama that culminates in the distinctive summit of Everest looming above the Nuptse-Lhotse wall. A further dimension to our trek is a visit to the Sherpa villages of Khunde and Khumjung where we visit some of Sir Edmund Hillary's projects established through the Himalayan Trust.

traveller reviews

What an incredible trip! The trek was amazing. The scenery and mountain vistas were stunning and we both loved being disconnected from the outside world for 2 weeks. Was exactly the break we needed. Trekking through the Himalayas was definitely the best travel experience we have done. Such an amazing idea to simply wake up early each morning, get on the trail by 830am and simply WALK for 6-7 hours. Get to camp, eat, read, play cards, go
to sleep. Repeat. Amazing! Was seriously really impressed with World Ex. The porters/sherpas were great (especially Amar - legend!), the campsites were really really well set up and camping in the wilderness was so cool (seeing the stars at night, waking up to snow caped mountains that didn't appear to be there the day before!) plus the endless amounts of quality food - we surely put on weight rather than losing it! Food was top notch! Only regret? Not hiking further and deeper into the mountains! The days spent at Ama Dablam BC were by far the scenery highlight and it would've been amazing to spend a few more days completely surrounded by the enormous peaks. Just means we'll need to go back at some stage. Other highlights: Namche Bazaar - beautiful and fun town. Loved it. Suspension bridges in general & Ama Dablam BC - great feeling of achievement of making it there. Having lunch prepared for us in the wilderness by the staff, with Everest in the background. Seeing and sharing the trails with yaks everyday.
